Knife in local auction

Post by just bob »

This knife is in a local upcoming auction. They list it as knife, sheath, and sharpener with no other information including the length. . My thinking is that it is from India, but is it older and worth a bid? Does anyone recognize it. Value? The sharpening rod has a stag handles but maybe isn't original to the knife?

My first impression is Pakistan made. But India is pretty close too. Never seen that style before, it’s interesting.

The knife is a barong from the Phillipines;the sharpening steel is from an old carving set. Here is a large version of it with some pearl inlays.

Thank you for posting that. Went to ebay and looked at the completed auctions and some of these are pricey. In the OP where I said I though this was from India I meant to say Persian but was having a senior moment and couldn't come up with that. In any event I was way off. Glad to know what it is.
