Old trapper knives

Post by KnifeSlinger#81 »

I have not been able to find a thread in knife lore that is dedicated to the trapper pattern, which is strange as they seem to be fairly popular with collectors, so how about we show some.

Here is a nice clean and original schrade walden trapper jack.

Here is an 'EDGE" Solingen Germany 4 1/8" Trapper. It is a stout 'heavy duty' knife as can be seen in picture looking onto blade spines. "EDGE" was a brand name of Gutmann an importer of cutlery. The earliest imports like this knife came from Germany and are of very high quality. Later beginning early in 1970's Gutmann changed to Japan as a source for knives to import and changed the name to "Edge Brand".
I think this knife was made by Wilh. Wagner in 1950's.

I don't have that many trappers, and fewer that are old. They are one of my favorites though.

Wow Keith, those are something. ::tu::

I like the robeson Joe, it has curves and style. Always good bone on those old robesons as well. Some of the best up there with peachseed and NYK bone.

Great trappers fellas.

That's long before schrade's old timers, which were first catalogued in 1961. Nice knife.

Beautiful trapper jack Joe.

Here's a little one, not sure whether to call it a peanut or tiny trapper. Either way the similarities to the full size schrade trappers are apparent.
