Little help this one

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Little help this one

Post by Bhud »

This Case Tested XX is in excellent condition. Going through some inherited pocket knives and find this one. Tight snap and smooth blades- no pitting. The color of the handles are really nice. I dated this to the 1920-1940 era. The tang stamp is on all three blades but no place for a shield to have been put on it. Thoughts? My boys and I are doing what my dad did with me. So cool to pass things on. Thanks!

Unfortunately Buhd, I think this knife is counterfeit or at very least been tampered with. I could be totally off base but the nail nick size is not indicative of that CASE era. Nail nicks on TESTED knives are for the most part thin and long.
Other's will chime in I am sure.
Please don't let this discourage you activities with your sons. If I am correct, also a valuable lesson there for whatever my opinion is worth.
Very cool to pass things on for sure.
Let's see what others think about the knife.

This is exactly why I joined this forum. Something just didn't seem right to me. It's a nice knife that will get used now! My boys will laugh because we had bets if it was legit. Thanks again. Brandon

Yes counterfeit. Looks to me like it started out as a Queen #9 stockman.

I don't often see tested era knives with all blades marked.
