I have a couple old Parker knives with handles like that. And, IIRC, they were advertised as Second Cut Stag. So, what's better than Sandbar Stag? Answer: Second Cut Sandbar Stag.

I love reading that old thread once in a while! It reminds me of the early days of AAPK and several friends were no longer with us on this earth. When you look at the AAPK logo at the top of the page you see the initials of seven members of our members who were well known and very much a part of AAPK, especially early on. Three or four of those members represented by those initials were part of the genius behind the story in the Sandbar Stag thread! They had a real imagination in a way of weaving a story!
I think everyone looked forward to seeing what happened on the Sandbar stag thread every day, while the story was unfolding.
Back in the early days of AAPK there weren't a lot of members who posted on a regular basis so it was very common to read all of the new posts every day, no matter what topic they were on. Now it's nearly impossible to read every new post that is posted each day.

The story I heard on the Sandbar stag was that the Sandbar deer were native to Chattanooga. Tn. Sometime in the 70’s Jim Parker, aided by Jim Frost, rounded all of them up in trailers. They were then shipped to Japan where their horns were cut off and used for knife handles. They were then shipped back to the states and were retired to pasture in Jacksonville, Alabama.

Do I sense this particular thread is coming back to life? I had never noticed it and when Ken put it up for all to see, I started reading. Can't digest much of it at one time, I'm only up to page 18, what a hoot! The early parts of the thread is kinda like "Brylcreem, a little dab will do you"!
