Schrade Walden 236

I purchased this one off of E-bay with one broken pen blade. Paul (Knifeslinger) was kind enough to give me the measurement of the pen blade so I could look in my parts bins and see if I had a blade available.
The main blade of this knife was already ground hard on a bench grinder but there's still enough there to make it a decent user (it seems a bit shorter than it should be but still in the useable range);

I found a blade in my boxes of parts that I assumed was the right length (looking at it now it may be a bit longer than the original. The tang was shaped a bit differently than the original so I pinned the two blades together so I could do a little grinding and filing to get it right;

You can see the nail nick on the old broken blade aligns pretty closely with the replacement blade. the tang just needed some minor adjusting to get it to resemble the old blade.
I did a quick cleanup of the liners, reassembled the knife and polished the bolsters. Aside from the length of the blade (which may be a shade too long), I'm pretty happy with the knife.
I couldn't help but notice that the bolster pins disappeared after the bolsters were polished (if you've been following any of my work you know that I've been struggling with bolster pins being visible after reworking a knife, this is the first time I've got them right).

Jeff, fantastic job on that one! The more you do the bolsters the better you'll get. That's one job that really takes some practice along with a decent amount of trial and error to get it right. Looks like you're on your way!
