Case Blue-Bone Ltd. Ed. 1-Blade trapper
I asked Case about this knife and they don't seem to have a listing for the knife I just picked up at a garage sale, but it seems to be from their Damascus Rainbox set from 1989. This one is Blue Bone, but blue is not one of the colors of record for that set, while green, red, yellow and white are. Their SS Rainbow set from the same year does include blue, so I imagine this is just an error in their listing. The number, B 6154 D, is consistent with the Blue-Bone single blade trapper in Damascus steel, and it is a 1989 tang stamp, with a serial number and long-tail C on one bolster and a Gold (plated? colored?) oval shield with the long-tail C, xx, logo. Each color was limited to a run of 500. None of the price guides I've found go in to that much detail, so I'm curious what its value is. Anyone have any idea? I'll probably sell it, as I think its too late for me to become a full-blown Case collector, but I kinda hate to just throw it on e-bay and hope a Case afficienado who needs this one happens to be looking? Any help greatly appreciated.

was an error in our listings which I've corrected since this inquiry. We
produced 500 of these sets. Parker has a collector value of the complete
set with the wooden display box for $1200. There aren't any value available
for the one knife as they were sold in sets, but this should give you a
guide when you put this on eBay.

Your efforts are greatly appreciated and help a lot. My next call to Case was going to ask what the sets sold for originally, but the current set value helps even more I guess. Having one knife out of a matching serialized set, however, probably means one can't deduct (say $100) for the wooden box then divide the balance by the number of knives and assume it is worth that much. I'm sure some of the value comes from the fact that it is an intact set. Still, I now know that this is one of only 500 of these knives ever made!
Now about that weird ebay listing for the time-traveling knife in a space rock.... I was a little confused. Perhaps I'm just dense, and it was all just a hoax you perpetrated.... But the followup pages about the "Bryan" offering the OOAAPOO (or whatever the acronym was) seemed a little out there. Is it just a coicidence of names or are you the same metaphysical guru genius that those pager talk about??!! Either way, thanx-- you sure have a handle on the Case thing!!
