Bulldog 2000

Post by robinpeck »

Picked up a knife recently. Single blade. Stag.
It has a standing Bulldog mark on the blade along with "2000".
It has a small amount of staining on the blade but does not appear to have ever been sharpened.
I haven't tried to clean it yet.

I don't know much about Bulldog knives except that they were made in Germany.
From what I've read here I assume its an early 4th generation and 2000 is the date made?

From an ad on this site for a similar knife I got this information:

"...For the 2000 year production, Bulldog made these lockback knives. They made them in three sizes, the Little Buddy 3 1/8", the Big Buddy 3 7/8", and the Hercules 4 1/8". They made these in three handle materials: Oyster Shell celluloid, Duckfeather celluloid, and Genuine Stag. ...Standing Dog tang stamp. This rare stamp was only used for a few months. The blades are hot drop forged with a deep stamp "Bulldog Brand" in the center of the blade. I knew they used this tang stamp for a short period of time...a few months."

Is the above correct? Can someone fill me in with any more on this knife?

The Standing Dog Stamp was used from 1996 to 2000.
