Case Fixed Blade - Need Help on Age

Post by Paladin »

Some of you Case collectors out there please help me to know the age of this hunting knife.
It is a chrome blade and I understand from Sargent's book that this dates it from 1934 to 1983. If we could pin that down a little it would be appreciated.
Pommell is aluminum and hilt or guard looks to be brass.
Blade length is 4 3/4 inches.
OAL is almost 8 3/4 inches.
Assuming sheath to be original, the leather inside the belt loop is finished. One of the articles mentioned this.
Ricasso stamped only CASE in block letters. No pattern number, nothing else. ::shrug::

A close up photo of the stamp may help.

nice looking knife. from what i can see in the pics, it looks like its stamped only CASE? they used that tang stamp in the 1920s, so it would be a tested era knife probably made in the 20s.

my brother in law had one just like that when i was up in ny on my last visit and i was helping him with some repairs and he handed it to me to cut something with out of his tool box. he didnt even know what it was. once i told him, he put that baby and hasnt been used since. i guess it had been used all the time up to that point....lol.
