Need your opinion on this pocket knife

I got this brass handle Booth Brothers jack knife around in September , is it the real thing. It's stamped Boonton , NJ , so that puts it in the year 1879 -1889. Why I'm asking is I want to sell some knives on here and don't want cheat nobody on here. Then I would hate myself , because I wasn't brought up that way.

Hard to tell much by the pictures, they are a little fuzzy to see the tang stamps.But from the wear,I would say it is ok.You have to be a supporting member to sell on here.

Yes, you definitely need better pictures to see the tang stamp clear and up close. A lot of people take knife pictures with phones, but not all phones are capable of doing the job. A bronze membership is the minimum requirement.

I didn't see Boonton in Goins. I have always wondered about these brass knives, whether they were made inhouse by the well-known cutleries or not. I know that Schrade CutCo imported the small silver-handles for their sterling pen knives from a specialty jeweler, and the little scissors from Germany. I don't know about the brass and aluminum handles; it doesn't seem likely to me that the cutleries like CASE and Schrade were making them in house (the frames, I mean).

I used a magnifying glass to get it the stamp bigger or clear. The tablet I use is always blurry at close ups. Yes I know I got to be a supporting member , been kicking the can down the road about it. I do have knives on consignment at Gatlin and Sons Knife shop.

Wikipedia, under Boonton, NJ, mentions a knife factory. Must be getting close.

That's definitely a legit Booth Brothers knife, albeit a bit worn down. You've got the years right too, they went from Boonton to Stockholm, NJ in 1889, then to Sussex NJ around 1903. The former location of the Sussex factory was about six miles from a restaurant I used to work at. Still a fairly small town even now. It wasn't a large outfit, I think in Boonton they only employed about 20 workers, then up to 55 in Sussex, but they made some nice knives.
