6265 SAB
Hey guys,
I've got a 6265 SAB that was advertised as a 70's knife but it has Case XX USA with no dots on the tang. Were there any of these made in the 70's that didn't have the dots visible or is this most likely a 65-69 model? Also, please explain about laminate handles, were these possibly laminated wood? The handles have a wood looking grain in them. Could it be synthetic made to look like wood?
My wife took the camera today to work with her so I can't post a pic yet.
Thanks~

Thanks for the response. I wouldnt have thought they were wood with the leading 6 in the pattern stamp. If it was hardwood wouldnt the pattern stamp start with a 1?
Thanks again

i'll post some when the wife gets home with the camera, it's a great looking knife and if it's a '65-'69 i think i got it for a great price.

Man, is there anything you guys don't know?? So it could be anywhere between '74 and '79? Out of curiousity and I'm sure it's been discussed before but why would they use a dot numbering system for dating and then hide the dots under the bolster?? Seems to defeat the purpose if the dot system's intended purpose was to date a knife...
Thaks again!

Now that I think about it I had another folding hunter - stag though - that was a '76 and the dots weren't visible. Didn't know about the circle around the Case though, good info!
Thanks again all!
