High Condition R703 Hawkbill

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

High Condition R703 Hawkbill

Postby JohnR » Thu Sep 13, 2018 10:23 pm

Grabbed a very nice Remington R703 when it popped on Ebay as a BIN the other day, seller only had one bad picture but took a chance on it.

What showed up is a mint R703,doubt it was ever used, if I'm looking at the tang stamp correctly 1920's to 1930's.

Thank you guys, appreciate it. This is probably the highest condition old knife I've been able to add to the collection, hard to believe it made it all these years without being used and not rusting,as Pearlroosterman stated most of these hawkbills were well used. I like the size of this knife,a little on the smaller side for a pruner.
