"Kinfolks was started in Little Valley, New York in 1927, with Tint Champlain (of Cattaraugus) as president. In 1929, Dean J. Case became president. The name "Kinfolks" was derived from the fact that all of the company's originators were cousins.
The firm produced mainly sheath knives, making many for the Armed Services during World War II. They also made knives marked Jean Case.
In the 1950's when Robeson hired Emerson Case as sales manager, he had or obtained control of the "Kinfolks" trademark. Robeson made a line of appeoximately 10 knives with the "Kinfolks" brand, and marketed them through the Robeson dealers. The patterns were usually tang stamped with green bone handles, and later when the handles were changed to the traditional strawberry bone, the Kinfolks tang stamp was dropped in favor of the name etched on the blade. Most of the knives made by Robeson with the Kinfolks name were pocketknives."
