Going dotty
I understand the Case dating system, but what do the dots mean on a Bear MGC folder? Any help welcome. David

They were set up the same way as Case. Start with 10 dots, remove one each year. The type face used since 2000 is larger than the one used in the 1990s...but it can be difficult to tell from a picture, unless you have a knife from each decade to compare the fonts.
I think Bear and Son is still doing the same thing since Ken Griffey got it back from the Victorinox people a couple of years ago.
I'll include 2 pictures, I know that it is difficult to make out the stamp...sorry. However, you can hopefully see the difference in the amount of space the overall stamp takes up on tangs of the same size.
First one is a Trapper from the '90s (SMALL)...second, a Stockman from this decade (LARGER).....
Best I could do.
