MADE IN USA tang stamp
Has anyone ever seen a MADE IN USA tang stamp? I have seen USA, like on the Camillus Army Easy Openers but never MADE IN USA. I saw it at an antique store, a two blade regular jack, tan bone with steel bolsters and brass liners. No bail, shield or eo radius.

A Camp/Utility I got in a junk lot about a month back does, which the guys here attributed to Camillus does. It was attributed to being made for Sears, but also could have been WWII. Bone handles, brass liners, nickel bolsters, steel center divider. It's made very well, if that Jack is cheap, I strongly recommend picking it up.

I've got one (Congress), was told in was probably sold by Sears, and made by Camillus. Been meaning to put new scales on it...

I think that the simple "U.S.A" stamp is an IMPERIAL stamp.Navihawk wrote:Has anyone ever seen a MADE IN USA tang stamp? I have seen USA, like on the Camillus Army Easy Openers but never MADE IN USA. Scott, T.J. is just a compendium of information.
I guess I didn't understand the OP's question. Yes, I have a couple of 72s (both 1st Gen pattern) stamped "Made In USA". And a little advertising jack stamped simply USA

Scott, the give-away is the bail being on the blade end of the knife and the rough black handles.TripleF wrote:tjmurphy wrote:CAMILLS Made in U.S.A. WWII Life Raft Fish knife. These were packed in emergency fishing kits.

I believe most knives that are stamped USA only and have plastic or celluloid were made by Colonial.

Re: MADE IN USA tang stamp
I was told by a very knowledgeable dealer and collector that Made In U.S.A. knives were made by both Ulster Knife Co. and Camillus. I acquired 2 recently, a jack and a utility, both green bone. I can't believe I've passed them up for years! I can see where the knives pictured are from Camillus, but I have an Ulster and Made In USA utilities which are virtually identical. The plain USA's I'd leave, but I'm on the hunt for Made In USA's. Great solid knives that clean up nice.

Just scored this one last night so no good pictures yet. Tang stamped Made In USA on main and Sword Brand on pen which should be Camillus made. Don't recall seeing the Sword Brand with the Made IN USA tang stamps together before, will take better pictures when it shows up.

Thanks JP, poor pictures so will be interesting to see if any other markings. I've come across plenty of Made In USA stamped knives that are attributed to Camillus but don't recall any with Sword Brand stamp on the pen, most of the time the Sword Brand is stamped on main.

Knife showed up JP, appears to be totally legit and it is very close to mint. I would say Camillus made for Sears.
