Re: FIRST GENERATION BULLDOG
How do you know it is 'first generation' ? I know that some of the stag 'first gen.' knives were reproduced some time around mid 1990's and these are often sold as 'first gen' Bulldogs.
I used to collect Bulldog but never did really know for sure which ones were first generation. It helps if you collected BD's from the beginning as they were released.

Oh,oh. KJ, I had done some business with the seller before and, with those brands I was familiar with, found him to be accurate and reliable. Nonetheless, you have raised an important question. I have sent a message to the seller for clarification. We'll see how he responds.

Re: FIRST GENERATION BULLDOG
olderdogs1 (Tom) is the person who knows Bulldog knives maybe better than anyone else. I hope he stops by and i hope you do have an original first gen.
I first learned of the reproduction of some of the stag first gens when i had a few BD's to sell to Tom, ones i thought were first gen, but they were not. They were the later reproductions, look identical except stag has a slightly different look.
It would be helpful to see a picture of both the original and the repro, one above the other.

Re: FIRST GENERATION BULLDOG
No problem kj. I learned some good info. Here is his reply. "
The 1st generation knives have Sambar stag as does yours. Also they have the pointed shield. Copies had European stag and blunt shields. Thank for your business. You definitely have a true 1st generation bulldog.

Re: FIRST GENERATION BULLDOG
Thanks Colonel, glad you like it.
Re: FIRST GENERATION BULLDOG
It's been awhile so I might be rusty with this but all the 1st gen Bulldogs have the two fighting dog stamp, then the 2nd gen went to one standing dog I think and the next was two dog heads. There are some older bulldogs that have the two fighting dogs and on the back of the blade it will be stamped english steel 1985 as far as I can remember will have to get mine out and snap a few pics for you guys.
