Goins' says; "Besteel Warranted 1945-1960"
LG4 says; " USA?, discount brand, circa 1930s"
There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information on this brand.
Those are two of the best sources that I know of for obscure brands.
If you find out anything else please let us know.

thanks for the replys everyone, I wish i could post a pic someday i will get that technically advanced! I would have to say i believe 1930 would be closer to the right years for my knife. I was hopeing to put a country of origin to it but that will give me a mission to work on thanks again everyone. also i guess i need to buy some reference materials

Re: tang stamp ?
I agree that the 31 stamped on the backside of the main blade is probably the manufacturer year.
This is similar to the WT Grant brand Crucible name sold exclusively at Grant's. These knives were sold between the early 20's to the early 30's and often had the same year date stamped on the main blade. Often subcontracted out to Camillus and of about the same quality.
Perhaps Besteel was also manufactured by Camillus?
