I bought both of these in the past few days off E-Bay. The little razor trapper, a Bear MGC is kinda' small....only 3" long, but it ought to ride in the pocket good. The stag handled trapper, a Parker, is a biggun'....4 1/2".

Both are nice looking knives, is that parker a Jacksonville,AL. ?

No....unfortunately, it's made in Japan. Although I much prefer the USA made Parkers, I gotta' say, other than NOT being made in the good ole USA, they're pretty darn good knives. The blades are harder than the gates of hell, too!

I wish I knew what was in some of that Japanese Surgical Steel. I forgot the regular knife I used too dress deer and I only had a 3 inch Parker lockback Bobcat model with bone handles and scrimshaw. It was a souveneir knife from Hawaii. Sure enough I shot a Blacktail that would dress out at 115 lbs. Swearing, LOUDLY, *&@!&*, I proceded to dress out the deer. Well, the knife handled it with ease.

I used that knife 4 more times to dress a buck before sharpening, the last one was a mite ragged.

I wasn't prepared as I shot one in the morning and my cousin shot one in the evening (first one, not ready for blood though). It sharpened fairly easy and after a few minutes it was hair poppin sharp again.
I think the Parker's you're doing is a good knife to modify. When I get time, I think I will rehandle that lockback, scrimshaw is long gone.

Both are nice looking knives.

Yep....you know what I mean about that Japanese steel. Good stuff. Sure 'nuff not like Chinee!

By the way, if and when you decide to rehandle the Parker Bobcat and you'd like to do it in "stag" (actually elk antler), PM me the diminsions and I'll send you a set of scales that should work well.
