Is Anyone Interested in a Henckels Forum?

Post by orvet »

I am trying to determine if there is enough interest in Henckels knives, pocket knives as well as fixed blades and Kitchen knives, to start a forum dedicated solely to the Henckels brand.

If you would be interested in a Henckels forum please answer this thread and say YES!

I will get the ball rolling with the first vote: YES

Absolutely YES, since i have many older Henckels knives. Up until 1960 Henckels was the manufacturer of the best German made folding knives and possibly the best world wide except for vintage Jos. Rodgers. Henckels also produced the widest range of knives for home & industry. I have 2 old Henckels catalogs with about 2000 pages each.
Henckels definitely deserves it's own Forum.
Thanks Dale.

I've had an interest in Henckels for a long time, so I vote yes.

I hope the response is sufficient to proceed and create a "Henckels Made" forum.
The folding knives marked "Henckels" have all been contract knives since 1960. These knives now the same as the manufacturer's own patterns but marked "Henckels". These have little value as collectibles. However the Henckels made knives are very collectible as well as being sleek and solid marvels, like a Porsche tank !
When the contracting out began the knives made were copies of Henckels own patterns. Some also have Henckels distinctive bone or Stag for handles. These knives can be difficult to tell if Henckels made or contract. The Henckels forum will be The Place to post these knives to get the opinions of other Henckels collectors. We will all learn something from these posts.
At some point, and i don't know when, the contract knives stopped being Henckels own patterns and became identical to the manufacturers patterns. These are easy to ID as not Henckels made.
When might we see the "J.A.Henckels" forum open ?
