I Couldn't Resist This One
I've written several times lately that I'm no longer actively buying Robeson knives. In fact, I'm selling.
But, I still look at Ebay every day, using my usual keyword searches.
Yesterday, this popped up with a Buy-It-Now price of seventy-five dollars and free shipping.
It did not take a lot of thinking. I bought it.
Seller listed it as a two blade knife. I don't know if he didn't consider the nail file on the bottom to be a "blade" or if he just completely missed it.
I think the box and purse might have been the work of a retail jeweler or such. I've never seen that type box with a Robeson before.
This is a post-war knife, so it dates 1940 to 1965, but given the economic difficulties Robeson was having after, say, 1959, I doubt they were still producing many pearl handled lobsters.
I don't have the knife yet. These are the auction photos and they should expand with one or two left clicks.

Very nice Charlie. Those little pen gentlemen knives are very intriguing to me for some unknown reason. I have found myself adding quite a few of those to my watch list lately. Some are very intricate and quite beautiful.

Beautiful little pearl Charlie! I can see why you couldn't resist.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Re: I Couldn't Resist This One
Thanks.
The Robeson 077 pattern is, I think, the most commonly encountered pearl lobster, but this is the first post-WWII example I have seen.
Actually, post-war pearl handled knives of any pattern are not common.
Of all the pearl handled knives I have, I doubt more than two or three are post-war.

Great little knife.
My first thought was how unusual it was to see a later Robeson in pearl.
Nice one.
