Keen Kutter Daddy Barlow Restoration
Here is a Keen Kutter Barlow I picked up recently, at the OKCA mini show December 5. It looked like someone had tried to replace the handles with a leather belt, and the leather was shrinking and falling off of the knife.
Even though the blade was short, it just seemed to me like this knife needed to be put back to use!
So I did a little restoration work and put on some new African Blackwood handles. It should make a nice carry knife.
The blade is quite a bit short but lots od lire left in this carbon steel blade.
It snaps lie a bear trap!

Very cool Dale! I like that a lot.

Thanks guys.
I really like the Keen Kutter bolsters.
I think the different bolsters that Barlows have are part of what attracts me to the pattern. This one has really nice bolsters.

For the love of god man don't do it!keithlong wrote:nice job, how does a man get started in the restoration fun, I have a few ole knives to play with?
seriously though, there are a few threads on this you can search for. If you are handy with hand tools and your hands, that's about all you will need to get started.
You will need some pin material and possibly some handle materials, but the best way is to take a project knife apart and put it back together again, so you can see how everything goes together.
