Schrade 1250 help needed please !

Sorry if I sound simple with my questions, guys (and gals!). But if it's a dumb question and I'll learn from it, I'll ask it.
I bought an old Schrade 1250 off a guy on ebay - nice old knife, the big single bladed folding hunter. Problem is - there's too much side to side movement in the blade. It wobbles way too much, so I'd like to fix this. I've got a feeling I've got to open the knife up to replace the worn washers (from what I read in some of your other threads !) and this entails cutting the pins with a single sided razor/Stanley knife blade.
Any thoughts on this gang? It's winter here and I thought it would make a good project. I'd like to get into knifemaking/ repair and thought this would be good to start on.

Chuck, your best bet would be to disassemble it cut the rivits, drill the bolsters and re-pin it. to do this you'll need to remove the rocker pin that holds the backspring in, I find the best ay to do this is to remove the head with a dremel tool, be very careful not to scar the original scales if you wish to retain them. Once the head is removed from one side, tap it out with a regular pin punch. once your that far, grab each liner and give a little twist. If the spine tis towards you the right side needs to be pushed down the the left side pulled up and it will pull apart. However! I have seen some that have a standard pin in the rear bolster, so you'll need to shear that with a razor bladre or utility knife as you mentioned if it is assembled in that manner. after that is finished, cut the rivits holding all the parts together with sidecutters. Then you'll want to drill holes in the correct place in the bolsters and repin the entire thing in the "conventional" way. Or I can do the work for $25 including return shipping, but if it's a winter project I'm sure you'll want to tackle it yourself. Good luck.
