Correct knife nomenclature

Post by dewman »

What is the correct term for the hinge pin that the blade/blades pivot on? Is it the "Hinge pin", the "pivot pin" or something else? Also, where might one buy some nickel silver round stock to use for knive repair after disassembling one?

Thanks for any help that might be forth coming. I'm fixing to tear appart a Camillus electricians knife tonight and I'm going to need a piece of "pivot/hinge" pin material to put this thing back together.

I have been wondering about that myself. I would think that the pivot pin would have to be made from a harder metal than nickel brass so it would not wear much faster than the blade. ::dang::
