Boker USA Great American Story series?

Post by skip »

Anyone know any history on these knives? I was at an antique mall and saw some of these knives. there was a stockman and a congress. Boker USA tang stamp. The back of the box had Wiss N.Y.
When would these have been made and what would be the value of these knives.
Thanks, Skip

The Boker U.S.A. business was either sold to or merged with J. Wiss and Sons between 1969-1978. At that time, it looks like Boker U.S.A. and Wiss (specialized in shears) were both sold to Cooper Industies. Boker reverted back to the German company around 1986.
So that time frame 1969-78 is as close as I can find.

There is a Boker Forum here.....

I don't think Bryan will mind posting that in the interest of information.

Thanks Bill,
Though I did not find anything over there about them I did register and post a thread about it. If I understand you right these knives were not made in Germany.
Thanks ,Skip

Hmmmmmmm...

I don't know why this 8) is in the middle of my post?? (it isn't, any longer  ).

It should read 1969-78.

If they don't say Germany anywhere, maybe they were made by Wiss...or made on contract, here stateside, for Wiss. I'm not certain about that. Goins' book says Wiss did make pocketknives...and did buy Boker USA in 1969.

Maybe TJT over there will have more information.

Because you typed "8" and ")" together.

Code: Select all

8)

You can always click disable smiles in the post when that happens and you must use the characters in a certain order.
