can anyone tell me what this handle material is or should be on a robeson marked ROBESON 623595
usa it seems to be some kinda plastic pinkish red handle muscrat sorry i cant post pics

one book says 6 is bone.

I have three Robeson knives that have the "6" as the first digit that are not bone. None are marked "Suredge" in script, therefore, they are of later manufacture. Two are jigged black composition, and one is brown jigged Delrin. I have seen some on Ebay that I feel are Strawberry jigged Delrin, but, of course, without actually handling them I couldn't say for sure.

thanks for the info i had read that 6 meant bone but that must only be fore the older ones i also feel mine is the strawberry plastic kinda dissapointed but it was cheap enough and its still a quality knife i like the old carbon blades their so easy to keep sharp.

Bone is not the only material when the number 6 is referenced, please check out the following information.

Robeson Numbering System
Robeson pocket knives were stamped with a five digit pattern number, sometimes with a letter prefix or six digit number from about 1915 to 1999. The first digit signified the handle material; the second digit, the number of blades; the third digit, the Liner and Bolster material; and the remaining two or three digits, the Factory Pattern Number.

First number or Letter- Handle Material:

0 – Metal (Aluminum, Stainless Steel)
1 – Black Cocobola Wood, Black Composition
2 - Rosewood, Walnut
3 – Polished Black Composition
4 – Ivory Celluloid
5 – Saw Cut Bone, Gold Filled Metal, Stag, Saw Cut Delrin
6 – Bone, Rough Jigged Black Plastic, Jigged Delrin
7 – Pearl, Abalone
8 – Multi-Colored Celluloid, Single Color Celluloid
9 – French Pearl Celluloid, Christmas Tree Celluloid, ShurWood, Gun Metal
C – Celluloid
G – Gold
