Camillus Pony Jack restoration
This is a Camillus #21, which Camillus called a “Pony Jack.” It had the mysterious brown composite handles that were beginning to shrink to the point that one of the handle pins had pulled out. I love this little pattern and decided it needed to be restored. I rescued it from eBay where it was just rusting away.
I took it apart, polish the springs on the inside and the inside liners, put stag handles on it and cleaned up the blades while leaving some patina. The master blade is a little short but boy did these blades take an edge!
I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Sweet little knife.
What's the size of that one ?
It looks similar to a Case peanut, only way nicer with that fat stag.

Re: Camillus Pony Jack restoration
I picked up a Ulster #183 today that's just about the same size (2-7/8" closed). What a sweetie.
Dale, I like that a lot. The stag handles look much better than I would have ever thought they would.

Re: Camillus Pony Jack restoration
Thanks guys, I appreciate your compliments.
I thought the stag went well with the half saber ground blade and the nice deep swedge.
It's too bad they don't make more blades like this today.

Dale,
Great job on that stag.
Perfectly even and balanced. Very symetrical and somehow the hafting seems to "match" the saber grind.
Its hard to explain, but I think you "NAILED IT!"

Thanks Mark. I know what you mean.
It is an esoteric thing not easily explained nor readily seen by those who are not fans of the sabre ground blade.
But for some reason this one just seems to "work" for me as well.
