help on age and make of old wooden handle pig sticker.

Need a little help, anyone ever see a knife like this before? The only marks that I see are on the brass rivets, looks like a blacksmith leaning on an anvil? The knife has a well worn 5 1/4" blade with puter guards and is a tapered tang. It has a false edge on the left top of the blade about 3" long. The dark colored wooden handles have aged and shrunk leaving the tang exposed. It might be oak or walnut. I was wondering if it could be Civil war vingtage. Any info would be appreciated, thanks, Terry

Can't help with any info on the age or maker of the knife, but I'd almost bet money it was used in butcher house. Seen a lot of knives with blades sharpened like that in my Father-in-laws packing house .

I agree Phil. My father in law worked at Fisher's Meat Packing Plant in Louisville, Ky. and he had numerous boning knives that looked very similar to that one. They got sharpened several times per day on a steel and wore down pretty quickly under heavy use.
