Looking for Western States Dynamiters Knife

Post by Paladin »

I understand this is a big folder with 4 sheepfoot blades. I'd like to pick up one or even two of them.

Ray, I know of one that may be for sale eventually. One of my former-Western-employee contacts has one he's been carrying for around 50 years. I've agreed to handle the sale of that and a few others if he has to go to a retirement home. I wouldn't hold my breath on that one, he's pretty spry for someone of his advanced years: he's still doing solo elk-hunting trips!

Of the others I've seen for sale, I saw one w/about 10% blade loss sell for $1,200 or $1,250 in early 2010. At the same show, I saw a factory box of 6 new ones marked "P.O.R.". Since I knew I couldn't afford it, I didn't ask. . . . The others I've seen for sale looked like they'd been sharpened on a an old foot-pedal grinder, and were still a few hundred dollars, minimum.
