Here are some really bad pictures of a Schrade 167UH fillet knife I made up for my daughter’s fiancé. He is an avid steelheader, so I guess a knife called the Steelhead is appropriate!
I used a blank from the Schrade auction and put on brass guard 1/4" wider than the factory nickel silver bolster which made the point where your finger sits under the guard pretty much the center of balance for the knife. That should make it less fatiguing to use for filleting a large catch of steelhead or salmon.
The handles are Mexican cocobolo.
Please excuse the fingerprints on the blade.
I didn’t download the pics until today, but I gave him the knife yesterday so I don’t have it to reshoot the pics.
I hope you enjoy the pictures anyway.

Sweet handles, the brass works well with that cocobolo.

Thanks guys.
I didn't have time to finish it as finely as I usually do, but when I put a super finish on a knife people often make it a safe queen.
I knew he would use this knife so it is serviceable first of all and pretty secondly.

Phenomenal job on the filet knife Dale!
It is sure a beauty and they are great filet knives to boot, I have used them on salmon for years. Anyone would be proud to have that in their bag of tricks!

Very very nice. I am thinking you should adopt my wife...then I could be your new son-in-law....
Very nice gift. I bet he loved it.
