Can someone ID this kabar knife?

Post by Brianc1704 »

.
I have this kabar knife that belonged to my grandpa and I'm having no luck finding any info (age, model, approx. value)
The blade is 3.5" overall length is about 7 1/8"
Handle has small black and gold rings? I can faintly read kabar in the middle of blade but it's pretty worn.
Thx in advance for any help!

Looks like a bird & trout knife to me. Used for cleaning aforementioned wildlife!

Yeah it looks a lot like a western bird and trout but I can't find one with this handle design? Oh well I really wish tip wasn't broke

Based on some ebay listing I have seen Ka-Bar toyed around with the "Black Beauty" style handles for a time and they look like Western Black Beauties.

I am thinking that tip can be ground and shaped to look almost original...neat old knife and I think a little on the rare side for Ka-Bar...plus it came from Grandpa...so its priceless!
