Schrade Cutlery Restore

Post by whitesell knives »

Here is an old Schrade, that I am doing a restore on. It is my first pocket knife restore. I will be using dyed and stabilized Dogwood for the scales. The wood was dyed red, but it turned out more pink. I have a before shot, and some of it torn down, ready to start going back together.

Looks like you've got a great start on it. Since this is your first rebuild, just remember we're here to help if you have any questions.
Good luck and please let us know how she turns out.

Thanks guys, I will keep you posted. I do have the scales epoxied on, ready to drill pin holes and shape scales down. Putting her all together, is where I worry about cracking the wood when I peen the pins. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Re: Schrade Cutlery Restore It is finished

I got the old Schrade Cut. done today. I like the way it turned out. It now has red dyed Dogwood handles, nickel silver pins. The old blade is pretty pitted, but she has good spring tension, and walks and talks good, I may file a bit more off of the kick, so the blade will go just a little deeper inside.

That looks really good & serviceable!
You might use some steel wool or Scotch Brite on the blade just to clean it up a bit so it matched the handle.
It lips like one I would carry! ::tu::
