Ontario M9 Bayonet and LanCay Sheath

Post by rangerbluedog »

I did some trading for this old beater today. I know very little about the M9 bayonet.
From what I've read on the 'net, LanCay had the contract from 1992-1997, and the Ontario bayonet was from 1997 - 2000.
The blade is tipped just a bit, and the sharpening stone in the LanCay sheath is cracked. I like it.
Does mismatched = bringback?
Can anyone educate me on the M9?

That's a great rig, rangerblue, set up for wire cutting in the last photo. Glass lined handle and scabbard. According to Levine's 4th Edition (1997), the Buck Phrobis M9 was the Army's bayonet. I know the Marines now use the Ontario OKC3S. Maybe someone else has more on the M9s? Here's some pictures of the LanCay M9 I have, barely touched, I don't even stick it in the scabbard.

That's a beauty, Red. ::tu::
I like the color green used by Lancay better than that used by Ontario.
