Camillus #83 Deluxe Pony Stock knife

I did some trading at the flea market Sunday morning. One of the guys there is fond of Kabar knives so he & I did some swapping. I am already missing that Kabar as it was a new EDC for me. I didn’t even get a picture of it!

The Deluxe Pony Stock is a well-made little knife with nickel silver liners & bolsters.

It has jimping on the bottom of the center liner and on the top of the two outer liners. Pretty impressive for a 2-5/8” knife!

The brown composite appears to be before Delrin, so I would guess it was made in the 1960s, though the 1972 catalog calls the handles Cabone.
It does have the long line tang stamp.

Nice Dale. Nickel silver liners and pins too. Love the jimping on the Deluxe line. I'm calling the brown composite, late '50s - early '60s. Does Tom's mother remember when they started using Delrin?

I checked my notes from an interview with Tom on 2/16/10:
Tom told me Camillus began using Delrin in the early 1970s.
Though it isn’t in my notes, I think he did say Schrade and others started using Delrin several years earlier than Camillus.

........dale, I've got a #83, but it's a jackknife, primary is a clip, and it has a coping secondary. 2 5/8" closed, long line stamp,brown jigged delrin handles,it has a long oval shield with an eagle holding a banner. it has no jimping. the tang stamp is long line, but the style of lettering looks different from the normal long line stamp. I think this is a much newer knife than yours, but it seems weird that two different patterns would carry the same pattern no.?????..................... ......................
