Camillus Sword Brand 8

Post by eyeselect »

Hello everyone,
Is there a way to date this Camillus Sword Brand #8 knife? There's one on ebay now and the current bid is $14.50. It's in better shape than mine, but the tang stamp is different. I think mine is older, But how can you tell? Remington knives are easy to date, but most of the others are much more difficult. If anyone has any information they would like to contribute it will be very much appreciated. Thanks.

When I see something like this, it always sends me to the Camillus catalogs.

The first catalog in which I see the #8 is the one from 1973-1974 and as you can see below, it's advertised as "NEW". Of course you know "Indian Stag" was one of the names Camillus gave to their handles formed of Delrin.

It's in the 1984 catalog but not the 1988 flyer so one would have to assume it was discontinued sometime between those years.

I don't think you'll be able to get much closer to the age than that.
