I started it before Christmas and finished it up last night.
It had black composition handles that had shrunk and warped even pulling out some of the handle pins.
The blades were in excellent shape and the only issue I saw with it was the shrinking, warping handles.
I got some black bone with RV jigging from Culpepper’s for the handles. I took the knife apart and cleaned it thoroughly.
I reassembled it and was pleased with the results, except that one of the pieces of bone turned a deep red-maroon color when hafted.
Bone being a natural product can vary a great deal. The handle on the back side remained mostly black.
I wish I had put that piece on the front, but you never know what will happen with the bone until you install it and haft it.
Aside from that it turned out great. It will make someone a fantastic hunting knife!
