I am trying to get one knife from each year! (of course that will be just the beginning) I am off to a pretty good start I think! I recently bought my 2006 knife! But I have a Question! The knife has 2006 on the second blade and #133 on the bolster. model #73 1 of 250 SCOUT. The knife has burnt stag handles! "Great-Amazing-Beautiful Knife! All is Great until I look at the production list for 2006! The production list only says there was 62 pcs of this style made???? The bolster say #133!!! Please someone tell me I didn't just waist " A LOT OF MONEY "
Did I get a true 2006 or did I get something else?
Tim -- To further confuse you, I was told the knives made in 2006 and stamped 2006 were not actually released until 2007. If it's stamped 2006, you have a genuine 2006.
Edit: Ok. Deleting my speculation (which was half-a**** correct) and entering the facts Jack. Directly from the GEC web site...
"Although there are knives dated 2006, Great Eastern didn't actually start shipping knives until 2007. There were approximately 250 sets of each blade pair produced with 2006 stamps; and from each 250 they would comprise 2-4 handle materials for each. So there would be @250 Northfield #73's, @250 Tidioute #73's, and @250 GEC #73's. Same for the #23's, for a total production of approximately 1500 knives. They didn't start the serial numbers over when they changed handle materials, so the serial numbers on the 2006 models has little to do with how many of that actual variation was produced only the sequence that a particular knife was made on that frame / brand combination. But Great Eastern did commit to only serialize the first 250 of each frame/brand combo. "

Edit: There's a niggling thought back in the reptilian part of my memory that says I remember hearing (reading) someone say that
in the beginning, GEC didn't serialize the individual patterns and handle materials with their own set of serial numbers like they do now. As I remember it, the serial numbers ran consecutively from the first knife made that year to the last, regardless of handle material or pattern.

Tim__you will find that GEC, did not put the pattern numbers on the blades till' 2008___2008 Stag #73 Scout, would be stamped 735208 on the spey blade*** anything I can help you with,just let me know ( I have a few myself )_____Monk
