Went shopping tonight . . . came home with a few essential items. Even my wife thought I should go shopping more often. The two I took the close-up of are a couple that are new to me . . . a Swanner and a Ka-bar.

Can anyone tell me about that big Weidmannsheil? (it's over on the bottom right). And what about that little Schrade next to it?

If you can post an open pic of the Schrade, to see the blades, I can tell you a little anyway. Looks pretty nice. Is it stamped Schrade Walden, Or Schrade Cut. Co.?

Yes, these are all new to me as of tonight . . . really, Charlie, I just got lucky and found a lady who's been selling off her late father's collection.

I'll get some pics of that Schrade up tomorrow evening.

That is a nice haul, alright.

I have a similar Weidmansheill to the one you point out. I love it. Mine has 3 blades and seems like it weighs about 2 pounds. I think yours, like mine, is a fairly recent build. Jim Parker bought the Weidmansheill trademark and existing inventory a few years before he passed away. Right now, his son Buzz is keeping it alive with an infusion of new patterns as Weidmansheill Sporting Knives. That is pretty much the whole sum of my Weidmansheill knowledge.

Wow . . . I've really been enjoying looking these up. All the copperlocks in this little collection are 1997's . . . and a couple 1998's that were first issued in 1998. Some of them have the floating dots (first stamp on production copperlocks) but most have the long C stamp.

Thanks for the info on the Weidmansheill, Needbucks. And to answer your question, Gunsmoke, the knife is a stag Shark Tooth. There's no etching on the blade. It's a 1992.

NIce Schrade cattle knife Eric ! Very minty, looks to have been made between 1946 and 1960's. I believe Schrade Walden stopped making jigged bone handles sometime in the early sixties, but I also think that tang stamp was only used into the fifties. Charlie will probably be able to give you more info on that one.

He's right on the dates etc, IMO. What is the closed length?

It looks like someone polished it a bit, but had the sense to keep the swedges crisp; very nice knife!!

Yes, the Kershaw Hunters are very nice. I have one with nickel bolsters as well . . . haven't seen many of those.

Closed length of schrade is about 3 3/8" . . . and thanks for the info about that knife. I really know nothing of Schrades. I almost passed that one by cuz she was hiding it in a separate bag (she was also hiding the Kershaw) . . . but I found 'em and convinced her that they'd look better in my cases than in her bag.

The Schrade is the nicest of the bunch, IMO!
At that size you could call it a "junior" cattle knife!
