Kydex sheath

Post by nmikash »

I was just wondering if anyone has tinkered with making Kydex sheathes. I was thinking of trying it out. If anyone has attempted to make their own I would like to hear how it turned out and how easy or difficult it was to work with. Some pictures would be appreciated if you have any.

Thanks
Nick

Hi nmikash,

I have a sheath made of kydex for a neck knife, and a holster of the same material for a handgun, great stuff. I can hit the woods on my quad and never have to worry about loosing the gun. I didn't make them though; this web site looked pretty informative.

I just now looked closley at that site, and it looks to me like that type of sheath needs a safety.
Mine is molded on both sides so the knife snaps into place, and is held in by friction. Just a firm tug and it's in your hand. I think the placement of the rivits determines the amount of resistance.
