Sent a new 55 back to Buck...

Hoyt Buck produced the first Buck Knife in 1902. Hoyt and his son Al moved to San Diego and set up shop as H.H. Buck & Son in 1947. Al Buck revolutionized the knife industry in 1964 with the infamous Model 110 Folding Hunter. The company's innovative history and attention to quality have made for many great collectible knives.

Sent a new 55 back to Buck...

Post by pocketknifejimmy »

I started collecting traditional American made pocket knives and other folders about a year and a half ago. My wanting to add a few more Buck knives to my modest, but growing collection, I ordered a 55 from Amazon. New it was, but the blade wobble was extreme. When putting it in front of some light, one could actually see the gaps on both sides of the tang. Anyhow, I almost did not send it in, I really hate online buying because of such hassles... but decided to send it in to Buck in hopes of a replacement. I know they may choose to fix, but since it is brand new, and my plan is to collect, I am hoping for them to grant my wish for a new replacement, not a repair. I have heard a lot lately about blade looseness/wobble on Bucks.. and is why it was 1st thing I checked on my knife when I received it. Wonder why this seems to be more common now-a-days.
