Newbie looking for some Case XX Knive Help and opinions :)

New to the board but i recently traded around with a buddy and got these 2 knives... Scans at the bottom

KNIVE #1
Case XX (Cranberry Bone = I was told) 3 Blade Stockman Knive
USA
6375
SS on 1 Blade

SS on another Blade

USA on the Longest Blade and Case XX with this pattern on the other side of the long Blade

CASE XX
X * X * X

I am attaching scans and any info on the Knive/Knives would be greatly appreciated...

The other blade has this #

Other two blades are blank!!

This knive is dark red and i cant find any info on it

I am including scans and any help would also be appreciated on this one also

made in 2000. nice cases and welcome to the forum. yes, that is a congress pattern.

Nice knives buddy! I especially like that big 75.
I dont know what kind of info your looking for, you pretty much have everything you need there. They are both 2000's and the red bone is considered a medium congress i believe.

Cranberry Script Large Stockman and Pocket Worn Red Medium Congress. I hear a lot of grumblings about the 2000 knives starting to pick up collectibility.

1. What is the value of the 2 knives above and what is a good price guide to go and buy for knives...

2. Do either of these have a low production or # of Knives made???
I was told the red congress was kinda rare from a couple guys selling case knives and the red was really popular!!

3. How much does it hurt the overall value if there in GOOD used condition and no significant damage or anything but you dont have the box for a knive!!!

Once again i am a newbie to knive collecting and i know these questions may seem kinda dumb but i am really just trying out a new hobby me and my son both will like...

Hey wdwain,

It’s really hard to place a value on a knife without holding it.

Look for the “Pocket Knife Traders” Price Guide, by Jim Parker. Volume 7 was the last one I believe.

I don’t think you have anything real rare; they’re both production knives from what I can tell.

Condition is utmost in collecting. Buy the cleanest knives you can find, and keep them that way. You will find a complete explanation of mint, excellent, good, fair, and so on in the book.

Nice knives.

I have found, book value and what you could actually sell a knife for to be quite different..IMO,ebay is a much more realistic price guide.

Each knife is curretly worth about what they sold for in 2000, around 50.00. I do agree with Mike though, in the near future the 2000 knives will certainly go up in value because it was a year with a tang stamp change.

Both knives were regular production and there was several thousand produced. Red is popular but it isn't rare.

Used condition really does hurt the value, at least by 50%. If it was a vintage knife, or a rare one it wouldn't hurt as much but since it's a pretty current model it doesn't have much collector value.

For some reason boxes on newer knives does seem to affect the value. It doesn't for me, I collect knives not boxes, but a lot of the newer collectors really want the box.

The 8th edition of Parker's Price Guide is at the binders as we speak, should have them available in the next week or so. I did the pricing for Case from 1971 through 2000. There will be some knives missing though, we couldn't get all of the SFO's inculded in this edition but we will get them in the next one which will be out in about 2 years.

You will see a lot of changes for the pricing that I did, most were lowered in value. I tried to make them more realistic, Jim had a lot of knives way up there. If any of you guys collect delrin handles or Sodbusters, your gonna be mad at me.

Thanks again for all the replys.... I have decided to put the stockman up in the collection and carry the congress for my everyday use... I just love the look of it and want to show it off as often as i can...lol

I really appreciate all the help and i just wanted to say thanks again for all the help
