2007 GEC 73 EC Ivory Casein, Desirable or Not?

I recently acquired this one... I really like it but, I can't afford to be collecting this $$$ of a knife right now in my current situation so I have a bit of a dilemma. This is some of the pain a fella goes through when torn between wanting to collect and trying to keep a dollar alive. Long story short, Injury metal throughout knee and down tibula good knee gone bad, out of work, slow to heal, always worked laborious jobs using knees, never knew a sit down job so I went back into selling knives which used to be a hobby and a way to earn a little extra cash in the past. No insurance, no disability, no retirement, no check coming in to me from any direction. So there. I'm not crying about it at all, it is what it is. yada yada waaaa So that's me and where I'm from and how I got here.

I am going to sell this knife but I am torn between putting it in my AAPK store which has not done so well as far as 07-08 GEC sales or on ebay where all knife sales unless extremely desirable are not bringing decent coin especially after ebay/paypal gets their cut. I would prefer it go to a fellow AAPK member if it were a desirable knife to collect though I traded good for it with hopes of making good.Good = not losing money I so hate the money end of it and my position with it in this thing that we love and that is supposed to be fun... So what do you guys think? ebay it and get it over with? Fast cash sounds good and less painful or AAPK store for 3 months lowering my price every 3 weeks or so until it is below what a new GEC of similar likeness sells for as I had done with several others? I am just seeking honest advise and not really trying to throw some lame sad story sales pitch. I know if this were stag handled I probably wouldn't be here asking for opinions on this knife. OH! And my feeling won't get hurt if (yes down to only one) you all think that this knife kinda sux or is a dud compared to the "NEW" GEC patterns and handle materials.Or if everyone is on the flavor of the week bandwagon and could care less about knives from a few years ago seeing them as being passé. Your honesty I would deeply appreciate. Sorry about the rant

OR______you could just say what you want for the knife,and see if it's ""DESIREABLE"" ???? ____just a hunch,but I feel like someone would like to have it,in a collection,that would pay a fair price for it ::hmm::________ back a couple months ago,was the last one, I saw sell on E-bay and was less than $125----- this was an AAPK member ???? ___a couple years ago they were bringing $200-$250

Timing can be everything ya know... tax time can be a killer I don't know how many knives they used this material on. I know of the open house knives alll of what 12? and then this knife says 150 on the knife but GEC page says more like 124 or so and I looked into the next 2 years not seeing any and then GEC changed the layout making it harder to find and making me dizzy by that time so as far as I know somewhere between 130-145? knives made with this handle material... I think it looks really good myself but perhaps I'm a bit biased right now.

They only made 134 pcs. of the 2007 #73 Scout, and the ""Open House Knives"" were the 2006, #23 Pioneer, pattern (only 10pcs. made)____ I know where ya' comin' from___ I've got quite a few GEC's myself--- I too really like the knife ( I've had two of em' ) __ I only wish you the best selling yours !!!!!

hehe Jerry, Juniper doesn't want to go there hehehehe He's got more okie in him then I do
But really, all that for FREE? Boy I need to start working all the angles... It's gotta be worth a buck fitty hmmm it sure would brighten up my AAPK store WHICH I am going to get around to putting some knives in maybe next week...

it's considered a desirable from gec collectors. try posting on mike lathams 'collectors knives . net'. knife market reflects the general economy which many think is depressed.--HiPower

I didn't know that anyone could sell on mike's website. Do you mean via his Forum? You would think it to be a conflict of interests... I placed it in my AAPK store ( RED DIRT KNIVES ) The other 2 knives in there thanked me I Think I'll Add several Case Stags from the 70's here pretty soon and would have already but after taking pictures for it I decided that they needed some light cleaning, either that or take more pictures with a lesser quality camera. The price I have on the Ivory Casein GEC is not firm but I am not in as big of a need for funds as I was last week so I really don't care if it sells now hehe I sold a few things off this past weekend and bought me a little independence.
