HI!
I looked at Bryans thread on the scrimshaw and was really impressed. I wondered though what others thought about the value of a knife that has had this done to it? Now I loved what was done, but do others look down on this or is it just an individual thing? I realize that those among us that are purist would probably not purchase something like this. I am aware that there are many different likes and dislikes in this hobby that someone out there collects and enjoys just about any variety or cutlery in one form or another. I have always wanted a custom made knife that look really OLD. But with some of the modern file work on it. I think that file work is gorgeous. Byrans thread makes me wonder if I should take an old CASE and send it off for a rework. File work, handles etc. Picture an old whittler with file work, etching, new handles. Could be a whole new field of collectabliity. Or what is most important, some thing you cherish and enjoy.
Just my thoughts.
