Re: northfield 235209
The blade steel is 1095 Carbon Steel__they will patina with age, moister,no oil, ect___you can clean them back to a ""shiney new"" look with some Mother's Mag & Aluminum Wheel Polish, (find it at Wal-Mart), a rag & some "elbow grease" ** you can also clean the nickle/silver bolsters with Mother's,back to a bright shiney finish !!!!__ after you get her shining again, put some mineral oil or Ren-Wax, on the knife to avoid this happening again____you can put the Ren-Wax on blades and handle to protect the knife**** ___the other knife is 1095 Carbon Steel also__put some mineral oil on the joints & blades,to avoid the tarnish/patina from occuring*** I like to keep my user's shiney--so I clean them about once a month, like the trapper belowdriveshaft wrote:can someone tell me why the blades are turning on this purple peach pit ?
NOTE***** The Mother's will also take the acid etching, off the blades !!!!!!!___if you want the etching to remain, you'll have to live with the patina
I'm not young enough,____to know everything !!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: northfield 235209
on my users i just clean & oil them after use.let nature put a patina on the surface. i think a non patinaed blade in hunting camp is out of place unless its a stainless alloy.--HiPower
