new Remington knife advertised in Field & Stream magazine

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

new Remington knife advertised in Field & Stream magazine

Post by treefarmer »

On pg. 27 of the Dec.2012-Jan.2013 Field & Stream there is a picture and description of a new Remington knife, USA made, that has walnut scales. It is called the Model 700 Series Large Lockback. Web address as advertised doesn't seem to work.
Does anyone know about this knife?
Being a model 700 rifle user, it caught my eye.

No Sir, that's not the one pictured in the magazine. I've chased several Remington sites and don't find it listed. Treefarmer

big monk, that's not it either. The ad states or implies that the scales are made of the same American walnut wood used to make the Model 700 rifle stocks. Since the magazine is dated Dec 2012-Jan 2013 the knife may not be on the market yet. It would be nice to know who makes the thing before Santa makes his rounds. ::shrug:: Treefarmer

Just got off the phone with Remington office in North Carolina, the rep. said they had apparently jumped the gun as the knife would not be offered till 2013. Asked if he knew who the mfg. was, but he said he was not sure. He said there is to be a 700 series and also an 870 series. He suggested to keep trying the web site in a few weeks it should show up.
