Owls Head
Owls Head
Does anyone have info on this knife.
It is an Owls Head with solingen stamped
on one blade. I know there are cheap chinese
reproductions being made now but this one
belonged to my father and is at least 30
years old. The craftsmanship is beautiful.
I'ts not for sale but I would like to know
if it is collectable. thanks

Wow,This is the first time I have seen an actual German Owlhead,I have a China version someone gave me. A noticeable difference is the large spear blade instead of the two sheep foot blades....Sorry I don't have any info for you,but I'm sure someone else will...Thanks for sharing.I really like those bolsters..
PS:does it have Munich Iron Works stamped anywheres?

Read the comments by ButchTN in this link. His first comment is the most I've heard and the best explanation as well.

Thanks a fine looking German made knife.
The only Owl Heads I've seen is the Chinese made. Thanks for showing your knife, truly a pleasure to view. As far as being collectable, I would say absolutely, yes. I would need to researh a few books, but since they are no longer made in Germany they would have a certain collector value.
Welcome to our site, by the way.

This is the only Owl Head we have anymore. Actually there's 3 and they are real effective in keeping the flickers from hammering holes in my mother in laws house to make a nest.
Sorry bout that, I just had to do it. They work!

SIGH, True story. My wife (she's blonde) kept seeing one of these decoys (I didn't tell her I put them up) and said, "look at that, that owl is always in the same place when we come over".
After I finished laughing, til tears were running from my eyes, I told her. We still laugh about that.

It does not have Munich Iron Works on any blade but the Chinese one that
I mistakenly bought last year does. My father loved to buy and sell knives
and he also left me a Schrade Kentucky rifle knife that he bought
in the early 70s. It is also in mint condition.
I have since added several old Buck110s and a beautiful Case Classic from
Smoky Mountain Knife Works in 1990 to my collection.
Along with a handfull of assorted Gerbers, Cases and Bucks.
Just found this site last week. Guess I'm not the only one who appreciates
a fine blade.
Just never could get any info on the Owl Head.

Sigh, Again, incriminating as this might be, this went on for MONTHS, not a whole year, just Spring, Summer, and Fall.El Lobo wrote:![]()
