Schatt & Morgan 2003-04 925 SS Steel?

Both a 2003 Mountain Man and a 2004 double blade trapper, do not show a tang mark indicating steel, but both have "925 SS" neatly engraved on the small keystone shield. I think it might be a type of stainless steel.

Is this a blade steel identification?
If it is, any ideas about its quality or the history of its use by Queen?

925 SS refers to the sterling silver shields ....the Mt. Man from the 13th Annual Series as well as the Trapper from the 14th Annual Series used 420HC steel for the blades......

Thank you both for this clear answer with a confirming opinion. Very nice! A very knowledgable blade steel guy had never heard of 925ss as steel, so this makes much more sense. The shield on the 2003 mountain man shows lots of little scratches while the rest of the knife is near mint...silver shield seems softer than I am used to seeing.

I know a number of knives in the same period to current with 420 HC.

You have ??? Dan, let um rip some times we have answers or know where to look to find em. There are some pretty knowledgeable folks how stop by here. (I'm not 1 of them) But yes silver has to be .925% pure to be called "sterling" and it is pretty soft.
