Rookie in camp!
When I was a Boy Scout (in the mid to late 1960's) my Dad was one of our Assistant Scoutmasters - he got into whittling neckerchief slides and other small items, he had me and my three younger brothers all involved too. He gave me a big bag full of old slides and blanks about 15 years ago - they have been in my attic. I found them a few months ago and decided to try my hand at it again - this is some rough work, but I did enjoy taking one of the Indian Chief letter opener blanks and whittling out the details. This took me several hours; I tried a couple of different size pocketknives and different blades - found that the Sheepfoot blade on this 3-3/8" Frontier stockman was my best bet. OH
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark

Very nice work. I wish I had some ability to carve, but unfortunately, I don't.
