Switchblade storage

Is it better to store a switchblade with the knife open & no tension on the spring, or cocked & ready to go ? Mine are all side openers.

My experience tells me that storage with the blades open would be better for the life of the springs. I have known people to store pocket knives with the blades partialy opened for display purposes so that weakened the springs. Just my thoughts.

Paul,

I agree with pa here, as well. I believe storing them in the "Fired" position has the least tension on the opening mechanism. If you have youngsters, that might not be the way to go...but, otherwise I believe opened is correct.

Thanks guys ! My kids are all grown, and I keep the blades way out of reach of the grand babies . Kept in the "fired position" it will be. ::tu::
