Foster

Post by Cutty »

Hey guy's. I need a little help. I was recently contacted by a guy who has a "bunch" (his words) of Foster knives that he wants to sell.

I had never previously heard of a Foster. I don't really collect or deal with tactical folders or tactical fixed blades. I have done some research and they look to be of high quality and made in the USA. They also look to run in the 200-300$ price range new. I also see that they have some "retired" models that I would assume are worth more to a collector.

I guess my questions are.
1. How collectable are they?
2. What type of collector value do they hold vs. original retail?
3. Would you invest in a "bunch" at the right price?
4. Do you own one and what is your general impression of the quality, fit and finish etc.?

I do not know which models or how many he has yet. I will obviously have to research each model and value it to the best of my ability before making any offer.

Any info will be helpful ::shrug::

I'll be speaking with him again this evening and as I gather more info on which models he has I will add to this post.
I dig half stops!!

Cutty,

I just went to their website and read a little about the products and the company. Given that they have only been in business for 6 years ( website info ), I doubt there is much collector value in the knives. So it all boils down to quality of construction and the materials used ..... look to be well made but I've never had one in hand.

Thanks Dean ::tu::

That's all the info I could find as well.
The deal is a bust anyway. He's to proud of them and I don't collect 'em. With my luck the'll take off and skyrocket and i'll be saying remember when I had that chance. Better off sticking with what I know which is Very Little to begin with. ::uc::
