A Bit rare Mark 1

Post by Mossdancer »

I have had many of the RH 35's and RH36's. This is my first RH 34 the blade is full at 4 7/8". Cole shows it in his Hardback US MILITARY KNIVES on page 88. Got it in original sheath and it was frozen in. After much coaxing I got it out and it was about 3/8" thick with solid rust. Tried and old trick, put it in a 4 inch vice and tightened about a half turn over snug and struck the vice with a one pound hammer and the knife fell out with the glob of rust gone. Took remainder of with a brass wheel. Any how it cleaned up pretty well. The wood pommel is especially nice. The sheath is in several pieces. So the hunt goes on.
