Kodiak date question?

Post by timgreene48 »

I have a question that I hope someone can help with. I have a case usa kodiak that has no "stars" on the gaurd. Reading Sargent's guide to knives and razors, I inturpert it to say that my knife was made 1965-1973. But yesterday I read a description on ebay for a kodiak, and the seller stated that knives with "stars" onthe gaurd started after 1966. Just curious as to which info is correct? any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Case began with the stars in 1973 . If you have the original box , you can narrow the production date down a little further . If it has a brown cardboard insert under the handle , it is probably from the late 1960's and if it is styrofoam it is probably from the early 1970's .
